The gold foil on the box and the cards is just such a great touch that they did not have to include, but looks great. Capstone Games killed it with this production. I have some other games of theirs and I always love their production quality. Wandering Towers is a phenomenal game you should get!This game uses a weird open drafting system, and I don’t typically like that mechanic in games but it works here and especially with it being a bit simpler game. Also that is plays quickly in about 30 minutes or so is great. Game is easy to score. We played maybe 4 or 5 games I lost count – but we really enjoyed this one. We only ever played 2 player but excited to try it at higher player counts. I heard playing at higher player counts gets a bit more difficult with more players involved and choices being made out of your control – so looking forward to that! :)Gameplay is pretty simple each turn, and scoring is simple. I won’t bore you too much of how the game works – I would recommend reading the blurbs in the instruction booklet, it gets the point better than I can:”In Up or Down players build ascending and descending card columns that score points at the end of the game. Card columns with lots of cards of the same colors score many points. The person with the most points at the end of the game wins.”Playing the game:1) Play a card into the display2) Take a card next to your player card3) Play the taken card into your play area4) Draw a cardEnd of the game:”When both draw piles have been depleted, continue to play until all cards in players’ hands have been played. There will be 6 cards remaining in the public display. At this point, scoring takes place.”

This game is a new hit with our family (2 adults, kids ages 11 and 14). The instructions are short and the concept is simple, but you quickly realize there is a lot of strategy you can choose to build into your play. There are options for shorter or longer games for each number of players.The gameplay is unique in that placing your cars on your turn is an ever-changing target. You can plan ahead, but should plan alternatives, too.The quality of the cards is excellent, with even some gold foil on the back. The box is also good for storing the deck.This game is definitely a keeper for our family library
