Great for a portable toy
I purchased these for plane and vacation entertainment for my two year old – he has loads of larger dinos and animals, but I chose these for portability, variety, and newness (new toys are always exciting when you’re 2). If you’re purchasing specifically for something like a trip, these are great and will keep a little one entertained for some time!No, the quality isn’t amazing, but it’s fair at the price point – around $3.40 per tube when I purchased. Similar sets can be found at Walmart for around $3, but those are lower quality than these and lack the cute tube (my son enjoys the caps as much as the animals and likes putting the toys back in their tubes).Yes, some of the animal choices are questionable, but there are tons of animals here that my two year old recognized and the ones he didn’t know gave him a chance to learn new animals. He didn’t notice/care that the farm set was missing a pig or the ocean set was missing a dolphin.Older children will probably not be too impressed with these and they wouldn’t make a great teaching tool for older kids either. But, if you have a toddler/preschooler and are looking for something for portable entertainment, you just can’t go wrong with these. My son enjoyed the dino tube so much that he played with it for an entire 4 hour plane ride and I was able to save the other tubes to spread out over vacation as needed for quick entertainment. All 5 tubes packed nicely into the bottom of our travel backpack and didn’t add too much weight. Fantastic value for a travel toy!

You get what you pay for
Cute little plastic creatures. Feel solid enough, not too thin or plastic-y, and donât smell chemical-y. The size could be improved on in that the large animals are the same size as very small animals, but I guess it works better to have them all the same size (ish) to fit them in the tubes. Which would be great for storage but I couldnât get them back in so I have them stored in mesh zipper bags. The tubes include interesting mix of creatures. Like why is there a bat, frog, and mouse in with the insects? Or a wildebeest with the farm animals? No whales or porpoises with the ocean creatures but there is a penguin. Funniest of all is the eye placement. The mold shows accurately where they would be but whoever was in charge of placing the ink there didnât see or know where they should be and they are in the oddest places, mostly for the insects, but look at the poor hammerhead shark. Overall, for the price, theyâll do.
