Played the second edition originally, so the new features of this edition were a fun twist. Love the replay-ability. Super fun for game nights with friends. Definitely not everyoneâs cup of tea to be the âbadâ guy

I LOVE playing board games. Itâs a great way to get the family together and off their phones/tablets. This game is a bit dark and probably not appropriate for younger kids but itâs a really sturdy build and we have a LOT of fun.This isnât a game that you can just unbox and play. Really reading the rule book and absorbing it is a must. Once you really understand the gameplay youâll have lots of fun. The design and physical build of the pieces and cards is top notch. Great for getting the family or group of friends together. It takes roughly an hour from start to finish.

Whether weâre playing with close friends or new guests, it always gets people engaged, laughing, and scheming in the best way possible.The mechanics are easy enough to learn in one session, but the replay value is where it really shines. The random room tiles and variety of âhauntsâ make every game feel fresh and unpredictable.Pro tip: play some haunted house ambient music in the background on a Bluetooth speaker. It instantly sets the mood and takes the atmosphere to another level. We also like to dim the lights a bit.Perfect for spooky season but honestly fun year-round.

I have been a fan of Betrayal at House on the Hill 2nd Edition for years, but since my son took that one to college I was excited to pick up the new 3rd Edition. The new version has been updated and streamlined quite a lot, and I think all the changes are individually great. Taken collectively, Iâm wondering if maybe the game is now a bit too streamlined. I need a few more plays to be sure, but I suspect it strongly.The Good:The new artwork is much more vibrantly colored, without being cartoony.The Haunt Roll can no longer trigger on the first or second Omen cardThere are significantly fewer tiny little tokens to keep track of.The overall gameplay is the same as the previous version, and there are still 50 different possible Haunts.The players can now choose a background reason for why they are exploring the House, which affects the style of Haunts they will trigger, rather than it being completely random.The Less Good:Fewer Omen cards may mean less thematic variety in the HauntsUnpainted grey figurines are less immersive than the fully painted figures from the previous version.Certain rooms have had their special effects simplified, nerfed, or removedPlayers may no longer steal items from other players, so less interactionPlayer haunt information is now open – no keeping secrets from your opponentsSo, in a nutshell, itâs still a great game but I have concerns that it may have been over-simplified. Iâll have to play a few more games to check.UPDATE:I have now played several more games, and I regret to say that my initial impressions were right. Donât misunderstand me, itâs still a great game and highly recommended, and I will still play it and enjoy it, but for people who played and loved the 2nd Edition, this one will feel kind of nerfed in comparison. If you never played the 2nd Edition, or played it and found it too fiddly or overcomplicated, then this version may be exactly what youâre looking for.

Do We Need Another Edition of this Game?
I am a huge fan of the board game, betrayal at house on the hill. I have all of the editions, including the Scooby Doo and legacy version. What Betrayl at the house on the hill offers is something extremely unique in the board game world. I canât tell you how many times Iâve talked with friends, who have played this game and had them unfold the incredible stories that they have experienced. This is definitely a cool classic. So what will you find in this edition? The whole reason I bought this is for the new scenarios and yes they are all brand new. Had it been a rehash of the same old scenarios with a new cover, I would not have purchased it. Unfortunately they still have not fixed the flimsy character boards which is extremely disappointing. However, the miniatures are a good quality and many of the components have been updated. If youâre looking for some new scenarios for fans of previous versions who love this game, or if youâre looking to start an adventure for the first time, I recommend this game. Iâm keeping it. have fun. And watch out for the traitor.

Itâs kinda fun and seems to be based a little on the Dungeons and Dragons players handbook. Each selects a character and needs to build a route out to finish the game. So of there are not enough of you and some are skipping turns (which happens too often) you run out of options and nobody can finish
