Customers say
Customers find this board game fun to play, with one noting the round castle-like pieces are great, and many mentioning it brings back childhood memories. They appreciate its build quality, ease of learning, and value as a parent-child game that’s good for both kids and adults. The game receives positive feedback for its strategic elements, particularly for teaching strategy-building skills, and customers consider it a timeless classic. However, the board durability is concerning, with multiple customers reporting pieces breaking during the first three days of play. Additionally, readability is a significant issue as the numbers on the pieces are almost invisible.

A Classic Strategy Game That Still Holds Up
Stratego has been a staple in our familyâs board game collection for years, and this original edition continues to deliver that same timeless, tactical fun. Itâs simple to learn but endlessly replayableâand perfect for game nights or teaching kids how to think ahead.ðï¸ Strategic Depth with Simple RulesThe rulebook (visible on page 2) explains gameplay clearly, making it easy for new players to jump in. Itâs a one-on-one game where each player arranges their army and uses bluff, memory, and deduction to capture the opponentâs flag. Thereâs no luck involvedâjust pure strategy.ð§ Great for Critical ThinkingAs shown in the product description on page 2, this game builds planning and decision-making skills. My 9-year-old quickly picked up the mechanics, and now he asks to play all the time. Itâs also great for adultsâengaging without being overly complicated.ð¦ Quality Components, Nostalgic DesignThe pieces are well-made and sturdy (page 4 reviews confirm this), with a classic red-and-blue army theme. The board folds flat and fits neatly into the box. Itâs the same quality you remember from the past, now with a sharper, modern presentation.ð¨âð©âð¦ Perfect for 2 PlayersUnlike many games that require a group, Stratego is designed specifically for 2 playersâmaking it great for parentâchild bonding or casual competition between friends.â Pros:Great balance of simplicity and strategyDurable, nostalgic componentsEasy setup and replay valueIdeal for kids and adults alikeâ Cons:Only supports 2 players (but thatâs by design)Overall:If youâve never played Stratego, now is the time. And if youâre returning to it, this edition is a fantastic reintroduction. Classic, satisfying, and endlessly funâIâd recommend it to anyone who enjoys smart, head-to-head games.

Just like I remember it!
When I was a kid this game intrigued me and made me want to dive in to the world of Stratego. My 12 year old son played it at a friend’s house and was hooked; he asked for it for Christmas.Since getting it he has played it countless times. He has played against me as well as his 14 year old brother and 17 year old brother. Overall, the game is a hit with several of our kids (we have seven from 17 down to a few months old).If you aren’t familiar with it, Stratego is a strategy board game. You are trying to defeat your opponent on the battlefield by moving your pieces across the board, eliminating their soldiers (and the spy) on your way to capturing their flag. Of course you don’t always know which soldier you are attacking or if you are triggering a bomb so you have to pay attention to your opponent’s piece placement as it becomes known which of their pieces are which. My oldest two aren’t strategy game people so they lost interest quickly. My 14 and 12 year old sons love it. On down from there the younger two aren’t fans (our 3 month old hasn’t made his opinion known on the game). If you are looking for a game for family game night, this probably isn’t the game- especially since it is only a 2 player game. It also is strictly a strategy game so younger ones may have difficulty really grasping how to play. And, as I stated above, people who don’t appreciate strategy games won’t enjoy this game. However, if you are looking for a lighter strategy game with a very simple mechanic and that takes less time than Risk or other comparable games, you will want to check out Stratego.

Great strategy game!
If you have never played this game before now is your chance. My eight year old and I have spent hours playing this game together. The rules are easy to follow for almost any age. A great option as an entry level strategy game that you will enjoy for years to come. Also, the quality of the pieces and artwork are awesome. Highly Recommended!
