    Love it
I recently purchased the **Monopoly 1980’s Edition**, and it has brought back so many nostalgic memories! From the moment I opened the box, I was instantly transported back to the classic Monopoly game of my childhood. The board, cards, and tokens are all true to the original 1980s design, which adds a **retro charm** to the game. The attention to detail is impressive, from the vintage-style graphics to the iconic metal playing pieces that have that perfect weight and feel. The gameplay itself is, of course, the timeless **Monopoly experience** we all know and love—easy to pick up, with enough strategy to keep every game exciting and competitive. What makes this edition stand out is the nostalgia factor, especially for anyone who grew up in the ‘80s or loves collecting vintage-inspired games. It feels like you’re playing the same game you did decades ago, but with a modern twist in its presentation. What I really appreciate is how **well-made** this version is. The board is sturdy, the cards are high-quality, and even after several game nights, everything still looks brand new. It’s clear that a lot of thought went into recreating this edition for those who want a piece of the past but also expect durability. If you’re a fan of Monopoly or just love retro games, the **Monopoly 1980’s Edition** is a must-have. It’s a fun trip down memory lane and a perfect addition to any game night. Highly recommend it for both seasoned Monopoly players and collectors!

    Superb classic family board game
This was my favorite game in the late 70’s, early 80’s and my brother and I would spend days playing this, with modified loan -sharking rules and extra money from other board games too. Then along came the Sinclair ZX Spectrum and we were finished……Fast forward 30 years and I am glad that we added this to our growing collection of classic board games for us to enjoy as a family. I was not disappointed, as this is exactly the same format as I remember. Obviously the difference from my perspective is that this is the US version (no Old Kent Road vs. Mayfair dilemma) but nevertheless the feel of the set is exactly right. True, this is not like the truly original one I played with once or twice with my friends, who were fortunate enough to have the red and green wooden houses, but then I guess that would have to be called a “vintage” edition these days!Anyhow, for those of you that don’t know the game, this is a simply executed, dice-driven, race around the board where players can buy property deeds of varying value, buy and build houses and hotels and then charge rent to those players who land on their squares. Add in the luck cards and the possibility of jail time and don’t forget the bidding wars and the ability to mortgage your property to get out of debt or refinance to buy more property. This is a great representation of Capitalism at its best, teaching children the concept of adding and subtracting, how much effect luck has on life, and how to make calculated decisions such as, “do I keep enough cash to survive this round or should I risk it on expanding my empire with the potential to make more money?”Will you be ruthless enough to bankrupt your opponents and win the game or will you settle for the more gentile “timed” version and see who has the most assets after a few hours? The choices are yours…All in all one of great board games of the 20th Century.

Like the original, except it’s not a half-fold board
Everything about this set is like the original Monopoly that I played (way back) when I was younger. The tokens are the original and are metal. Houses and hotels are plastic, but that’s fine. The deed, chance, and community chest cards are very high quality. The rules are easy to read and for the price, the set is great. I especially love the banker’s money tray, as that is a tremendous improvement and makes handling the money so much easier. The only downside is that this is NOT a half-fold board in the long box, as shown and as some have stated in reviews, but rather is the quarter-fold board. I really did not want this type of board, but since that’s what we got we are going to keep the set. The game play is the same, so we will live with it, but I’ve already noticed that the board is slightly warped and doesn’t lay perfectly flat. Ours is warped just like the one they show in the product video, except that it’s not a half-fold like they show. Luckily, I don’t think we’ll be using it all that much, so it will be fine and the quality of everything else makes up for this on thing.

This is very close to being exactly like the Monopoly that I learned to play on, back around ‘88 or so. That game had differently coloured Chance and Community Chest cards, and it had the iron token. Besides those minor differences, this game is the same. The quality here is far superior to the $20ish current game you can buy at a toy store. The board folds in half and lays perfectly flat, as opposed to the cheaper games released recently with boards that fold in quarters. The cards and deeds are printed on nice thick card stock. The included money tray makes the banker’s job very easy. Tokens are metal, and are the classics I remember, like the wheelbarrow. You won’t find any cats or rubber duckies here.I do wish the $500 and $100 bills had a slightly greater colour difference, to make a mixup less likely. And I’d prefer that the Chance and Community Chest cards had markings on the back to indicate which is which. Other than that, I think this is perfect.I paid just under $50 for this and I consider it a worthy investment. I have purchased some classic board games, like Clue, that have been manufactured recently and I can tell you they do not hold up. The boards that fold in quarters tent up in the middle and they break easily with repeated use, and the thin flimsy cards quickly become ragged. The cheap versions have their place. If you aren’t sure you’ll play it much, starting with the recently released Monopoly is reasonable. If you know you’ll be playing this game frequently, though, definitely invest in this one.

Not too my liking as the quality of the board is very poorly made.

The product is a good quality product compared with what is available usually in the market. However, the quality needs to be better compared to the price that os being charged

I couldn’t believe how hard it was to find the orignal version the Monopoly, thank goodness it was available online. It’s a classic great quality and we’ve had many fun nights playing it. Nice solid pieces and good solid board.
